Kaplan Methods for Reading Comprehension and Math2020-01-28T15:47:29+01:00

Success on the SAT comes with sound strategy, confidence, and focused practice. In the first session of your class, you’ll learn the Kaplan Method for Math and the Kaplan Method for Reading Comprehension, refined strategic tools that will boost your confidence and enable you to complete practice questions and passages more effectively.

You’ll learn to apply the Kaplan Method for Reading Comprehension to identify passage types, create passages maps, and confidently predict and match correct answers in Reading.

The Kaplan Method for Math will help you through both the Calculator and No Calculator Math tests. Your first step is applying it to linear equations in algebra.

Kaplan Methods for Writing and Infographics, Systems of Equations, Paired Passages, and Ratios2020-01-28T15:47:53+01:00

In this session, you’ll master two additional Kaplan strategies: the Kaplan Method for Writing & Language, to help you answer any Writing & Language question, and the Kaplan Method for Infographics, to help you work confidently with the infographics that appear in every section of the test.

You’ll also continue practicing the Kaplan Method for Math with two additional topics: systems of equations and rates, ratios, proportions, and percentages. You’ll also learn to tackle Paired Passages in the Reading section.

Multi-Part Math, Statistics and Probability, Rhetoric, and Organization2020-01-28T15:48:21+01:00

The Kaplan Method for Multi-Part Math is one more weapon to add to your strategic arsenal, ensuring you can handle the multi-part Math questions you’ll encounter on Test Day. You’ll learn to apply it to questions on ratios and proportions and statistics and probability.

On top of that, you’ll learn how to discern an author’s purpose and point of view and how to determine why an author chooses certain words. This will allow you to answer the Rhetoric questions you encounter in Reading with ease.

Finally, you’ll continue applying the Kaplan Method for Writing & Language. This session’s focus is answering questions on how an author organizes a passage and manages transitions.

Command of Evidence, Functions, the SAT Essay, and Quadratics2020-01-28T15:49:05+01:00

Command of Evidence questions are a distinctive feature of the SAT that requires you to identify textual support for a previous question. You will learn to tackle these questions with confidence, simply by following the Kaplan Method for Reading.

After this session, you will have no doubt about how to approach the SAT Essay. Using the Kaplan Method for the SAT Essay, you’ll learn how to plan, write, and revise a top-scoring essay.

The Math in this session includes both functions and quadratics. You’ll master answering questions on function notation, compositions of functions, transformations, and other topics relating to functions. You’ll also learn a variety of ways to solve quadratic equations, as well as how to identify graphs of quadratics.

Practice Test2020-01-28T15:49:31+01:00

Put all those Kaplan strategies that you’ve learned in class to the test by taking another full length practice test. Once again, you’ll want to bring your practice test book, pencils, and a graphing or scientific calculator to this live proctoring to make sure you get the most realistic experience possible.

Your performance on this test will further customize study recommendations to help you succeed in the final stretch of your test prep. Use these recommendations to refine your practice, so you can prepare for Test Day with confidence!

Vocab-in-Context, Exponents and Radicals, Punctuation, and Sentence Structure2020-01-28T15:50:06+01:00

You’ll start this session by tackling another Reading question type, Vocab-in-Context. You’ll apply the Kaplan Method for Reading Comprehension to these questions, which require you to identify the author’s meaning when using particular words and phrases.

In the Math portion of the session, you’ll simplify expressions and solve equations involving exponents, radicals, and polynomials.

In addition, you’ll be given more opportunities to apply the Kaplan Method for Writing & Language, by answering questions involving conventions of punctuation and sentence structure.

Geometry, Details and Inferences, Effective Language Use, and Putting It All Together2020-01-28T15:50:30+01:00

The final session of the class begins with a Math lesson on geometry. You’ll learn how to answer questions involving lines, angles, triangles, and three-dimensional solids.

In Reading, you’ll learn how to handle Detail and Inference questions. In Writing & Language, you’ll apply the Kaplan Method to questions on effective language use.

Finally, we’ll pull it all together so you can look back on all that you have accomplished throughout the course. By the time Session 10 comes, you should feel confident and ready to succeed on Test Day. Be proud: College is waiting and you are well on your way. Good luck!
